Description

County Bridge is a road bridge over the River Avon, built in 1820 by J. Peniston. It is constructed of brick and features cast-iron railings. The bridge has three segmental arches supported by stone cutwaters. The balustrade includes cast-iron stick balusters that are attached to limestone piers with weathered cappings at both ends. On the south side of the bridge, there is a stone tablet that displays the date 1820. A 20th-century wooden footway is located on the north side, extending over the river. Plans for the bridge can be found at the Wiltshire Records Office.
