Description

Bridge Cottage is a detached house dating from circa 1700, with extensions added in the 18th century and the 20th century. The house is constructed of painted rubble stone, with a tiled roof, a hip to the left, and gable end brick stacks. It is two storeys high and has a three-window front. A 20th-century gabled porch contains the front door and is positioned to the right of the centre. The right-hand bay features a 12-pane segmental-headed sash window. English bond brick is used in the left-hand bay, which has a 2-light flush mullioned casement and a 2-light segmental-headed casement. The first floor windows consist of two 2-light flush mullioned leaded casements on the right, and a single-light casement on the left. Straight joints divide the front elevation into three sections. A 20th-century extension to the left return and to the rear is not of particular interest. Inside, there is a chamfered beam with run-out stops, and an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel on stone jambs.
