Description
St James's Hall is a mid to late 19th-century building located on Union Street. It features a six-bay design with its gable end facing the street, constructed from rough-faced coursed rubble. The facade is tripartite, with corner buttresses accentuating the central break. A large rose window with intricate tracery is positioned on the first floor, flanked by two four-centre arch-headed lancets that also have traceried heads. The central doorway is a pointed arch, consisting of three orders, with a label and impost moulding, and above it is a philactery inscribed with "St James's Hall."
This building is part of a group that includes the Union Street Almshouses, the street wall with No. 9 Union Street, St James' Hall, Nos. 16 to 19 Church Street, and the National Schools.
