Description
This is a mid-19th century building on Union Street, constructed in a classical style. It is two stories high and originally comprised three bays, with a two-bay extension added to the left. The building is faced with ashlar.
The ground floor has a draughted, stepped stone plinth, with vermiculation extending to the quoins and the central doorway. A band runs above the ground floor, featuring a frieze with blind balustrading below the first-floor windows which are tripartite. Another frieze sits above the first floor, topped by a modern stone-faced parapet. The first-floor windows have glazing bars, architraves and cornices, while the ground-floor windows are tripartite with struck voussoirs. A central, round-headed doorway is topped with a carved head on the keystone, and contains a modern door with a blank fanlight.
The two-story extension to the left has a chamfered north corner, a band above the ground floor, pilasters with incised lines, and a draughted ground floor. It features architrave sash windows with marginal glazing, and a bed mould to the cornice. A projecting portico at the rear has Doric columns and a blocking course. A rear extension is present to the northeast.
