Description
The stables at Trafalgar House, dating from the late 18th century, consist of two parallel stable blocks. They are constructed of English bond brick with hipped roofs made of Welsh slate and feature brick stacks. The buildings are two stories high and have eleven-window fronts. The stable blocks include four-panelled doors, stable doors with semi-circular heads, and large panelled carriage doors at the east ends. The ground floor windows are pivot-hung, while the first floor has 8-pane sash windows and four-panelled doors. A dentilled eaves cornice adds decorative detail. Inside, the stables have tiled floors, planked and cast-iron loose boxes equipped with feed troughs, and cast-iron loops with lion heads for tethering horses. The two blocks face each other across a narrow cobbled yard, which is enclosed at either end by semi-circular brick walls.
