Description

The Cave of Adullam is a Strict and Particular Baptist Chapel built in 1838. It is constructed of rendered brick and features a slate roof. The chapel has a simple design with a gable facing the street and a shallow gabled porch. There are round-headed windows, with one on the north side and two on the south, and a cast-iron datestone positioned between them. The windows have pattern-etched glass, and there are high windows in the end gables. The roof is half-hipped. Inside, there is a lobby that leads to a stairway accessing a panelled gallery. This modest chapel is uniquely situated on a narrow triangular piece of land that serves as a graveyard, with later 19th-century headstones on either side.
