Description
Gisburn House is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations in the late 18th to early 19th centuries. It features a cross wing that is timber framed with brick and wattle and daub infill, while the main block is constructed of brick, all covered with thatch. The building has two storeys, with the wing facing the street and consisting of two bays. The frame has three panels high on the ground floor and two on the upper floor, with corner braces. The main block has three bays, a central entrance, and flanking rooms, likely a remodelling of an earlier timber-framed structure. The entrance includes a six-panelled door with a fanlight and a bracketed canopy. The ground floor has three-light windows, with the left window being a sashed replacement, and features a cambered brick arch. The first floor has two-light windows. There are gable stacks, with the right stack embedded in the cross wing. A 20th-century surgery has been added to the left, which is now a flat.
