Description

The Canal Bridge at the Bridge Inn is a road bridge over the Kennet and Avon Canal, built around 1806-1807. It is constructed of brick and features stone copings. The bridge has a splayed plan and an elliptical arch made of 13-inch bullnosed bricks. At the base of the parapet, there is a two-brick string course. The flush half-round stone copings terminate in slight piers. Additionally, there is a stone-capped revetment for the towpath beneath the bridge, along with a recess for a sluice or gates. This bridge has group value with the Bridge Inn nearby.
