Description
The Bridge Inn is an inn and dwelling built in the early 19th century. It features painted diaper brickwork and a tiled roof, with the end bay constructed of painted stone. The building is two storeys high, with the house on the left consisting of three bays and a central stair hall. It has a six-panelled door with a canopy supported by brackets, and sixteen-paned sash windows, although there is one 20-pane sash window on the first floor. The structure includes a cogged platband and brick dentilled eaves, along with gable stacks. To the right, the house extends by three bays beyond a blocked doorway, with a 20th-century door leading to the bar and additional sixteen-pane sash windows. The end bay is made of stone rubble, featuring a brick gable end and a return to the rear that contains services and a hay-loft above. The building has group value with the nearby canal bridge.
