Description

Nos 41 to 44 on Market Place, dating from the late 18th century, are a range of three former houses. The buildings rise three storeys, with the ground floor featuring completely modern shop fronts. The upper floors are constructed of red brick and have chambered stone quoins. A brick parapet, defined by brick piers and topped with stone coping, runs along the top. There is a stone bracketed cornice, and the gable ends have old tile roofs. The façade includes twelve windows, which are recessed sashes without glazing bars, featuring cambered heads on the second floor, stone arches, and projecting key blocks. This range presents an effective long front to Market Place. Nos 41 to 44, along with the Blue Boar Inn and Nos 45 to 51, form a cohesive group.
