Description
Church Corner Lodge and gate piers form a former lodge to Seend House, dating from the early 19th century. The lodge is constructed of ashlar, with a low-pitched slate roof and a stack at the north end. It is a single-storey building featuring a cornice and parapet. A prominent four-column Roman Doric portico with entablature fronts the lodge, with a 16-pane sash window on either side of the central six-panel door. To the right of the portico is a matching one-window section with a plinth and cornice that continues around the corner, also featuring a 16-pane sash window. Red brick extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries are located behind the lodge, and are single-storey, connecting to a two-storey range with a half-hipped roof. The rear wall, built up from a rubble stone wall along Church Lane, is visible. Attached to the lodge are two rusticated ashlar gate piers, topped with corniced caps, and short lengths of curved wall extending outwards to the road on each side.
