Description
The lodge and gate piers to Seend House date from the early 19th century and are constructed of ashlar stone. The lodge features a low-pitched hipped roof that is set behind a parapet, with a stack located at the original south end. It is a single-storey structure that is positioned behind a four-column Roman Doric portico, which has an entablature that continues as a cornice on the main building. There are pilaster responds at the outer angles, and on either side of the central six-panel door, there are 16-pane sash windows. To the left of the lodge, there is a matching one-window section that was likely added later, which also features a plinth and cornice, along with a 16-pane sash window. The lodge is complemented by two rusticated ashlar gate piers that have corniced caps, which are connected to the roadside by short sections of ashlar-coped curved wall. This lodge was originally one of a pair, with the other lodge now converted into a house located on Church Lane.
