Description
Wesley Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, constructed of rubble stone and later refronted in painted brick in the early 19th century. It features a Bridgwater tile roof and a rear chimney gable. The building has two storeys and an attic. The front elevation includes two 16-pane sash windows on each floor and a central six-panel door, all set within flush stone surrounds. The door is topped with a hood on brackets, although this was broken in 1986. There is also an added 16-pane sash window in the centre of the first floor. The west end wall has a two-light recessed chamfered mullion window. Historically, John Wesley is said to have preached from this location before the chapel opposite was built in 1774-1775.
