Description

Seend Methodist Chapel is a Methodist chapel built between 1774 and 1775. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate hipped roof. The building has flush quoins and a central entrance with double doors set in a flush moulded surround, topped by a pediment supported by brackets. Above the doors is a 2-light window with pointed heads, and the spandrel bears the inscription 'Wesleyan 1774'. The door lintel has an inscription stating 'This chapel was opened by the Rev. John Wesley A.M. on March 4th 1775', with the inscription added in 1929. The chapel also has similar pointed head windows, with two 3-light windows on each side and two 2-light windows at the rear. Inside, there is a panelled fronted gallery supported by two columns.
