Description
This is an early to mid-18th century house, likely built on a 17th century core, with an extension dating from around 1800. It is constructed of chequered brick and red brick, with ashlar dressings and rubble stone to the rear, and has stone slate roofs. The building is two storeys and has an attic. The main range features a rear stack, a north-facing half-hipped roof, two gabled dormers, and a formal five-window front. It has a raised rubble stone plinth, a string course that steps up in the centre, and flush quoins at the right end. The windows are two-light, flush cyma-moulded, with casements. A similar window has been inserted into a flush-moulded doorcase. The rear has a catslide roof, and an added red brick, half-hipped stair tower to the right, featuring a three-light cyma-moulded stair window. A taller south end addition has a half-hipped roof, flush quoins, and a six-panel front door in a raised moulded surround with a hood on brackets, set to the right. Above the door is a 12-pane sash window in a beaded surround. The end wall has a two-light attic window, and two 12-pane sashes on each floor below. A rear stack is present, and to the left, a projecting, half-hipped porch tower, likely added in the mid-19th century.
