Description
The Seend War Memorial is a war memorial erected in 1921, designed by an unknown architect. It is made of Cornish granite and features metal lettering. The memorial consists of a plain, roughly-hewn cross and base set on a stepped rectangular plinth.
On the east side of the plinth, the inscription reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO DIED IN THE WAR OF 1914-1919/ (NAMES)/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE/ ERECTED BY THEIR FELLOW PARISHIONERS." Attached to this side is a stone plaque that states: "This stone marks the Rededication of/ the Seend War Memorial in its/ 100th Anniversary year/ in the presence of/ HRH The Duchess of Cornwall/ 2 December 2021."
The north side of the plinth features the inscription: "ALSO OF THE FOLLOWING/ WHO DIED AS A RESULT OF ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE WAR OF 1939-1945/ (NAMES)/ 'THEY ARE IN PEACE'."
