Description
There are three tombs located in the churchyard northwest of the porch of the Church of the Holy Cross, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, made of ashlar.
The first is the Perrett monument, a chest tomb situated 5 meters northwest of the porch. This late 18th-century tomb features two raised plaques, fielded panelled angle piers, and a husk drop to the center pier. It has a moulded base and cornice with a pulvinated frieze, and the north side bears an inscription for John Perrett, who died in 1780.
Next is the Seymour monument, located 11 meters northwest of the Perrett monument. This pedestal memorial, constructed around 1825, is made of ashlar with marble details. It has a square plan with chamfered panelled angles and sunk square plaques on each side. It also features a moulded base and cornice, topped with a marble urn on a stepped base. The east side has a marble plaque dedicated to The Hon. and Rev. E. Seymour, who died in 1820, while the north side displays a marble armorial plaque.
Finally, the Scott monument dates from around 1800 and features a large framed plaque on the north side, flanked by draped urns and fluted baluster angles. The south side has two plaques set in moulded frames with an urn in between. It also has a moulded base and cornice with a fluted frieze, and the north side includes an inscription for Dinah Scott, who died around 1800.
