Description
The building at 4 and 5 Northgate Street is an 18th-century structure. It has two storeys and a stone tile roof, with a moulded band running along the first-floor level. The facade features five windows that are irregularly spaced, each framed with an architrave. On the ground floor, number 4 has a six-panel door within an architrave, accompanied by a radiating arched fanlight, one window, a shop window, and a yard door located centrally. To the right, number 5 has a four-light shop window framed by fluted pilasters and an entablature. The shop window of number 4 originally had eight-by-four panes but has been modernized. The listed buildings at numbers 1 to 18 Northgate Street and those on the southwest side of Market Place form a group valued for their collective architectural merit.
