Description
The Dolphin Public House is an 18th-century building located on Northgate Street. It is a three-storey structure with a rough cast front set on a stone plinth, featuring coping to the parapet. The first and second floors have a stucco rectangular panel with a moulded frame and concave corners. There are square panels in similar frames flanking the first floor. The second floor has two closely set windows, while the first floor has two paired windows, all with recessed sashes and intact glazing bars, and block sills. The ground floor is also stuccoed and includes a frieze with a moulded string and a moulded cornice above. Although the windows are modern, the original door to the left consists of six flush panels topped with a narrow rectangular fanlight. The Dolphin Public House, along with Nos 58 to 60, forms a group with No 18 Market Place.
