Description

Abbey House Water Tower is a water tower that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and was converted in the late 20th century. The structure is built from coursed, squared limestone with dressings, although the roof is not visible. The tower is square and open plan, rising three storeys with a two-window range. It features a plain, square design with a cornice band and a crenellated parapet, which includes a raised corner turret on the northwest side. There is a left-hand doorway with a chamfered surround and a shouldered lintel, leading to a modern door. On the second storey, there are two outer louvred loops, and modern windows have been inserted on all three storeys on the south and east sides, the latter of which has a shallow second-floor ashlar oriel. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this tower was formerly attached to the stables of Abbey House.
