Description
The Old Brewery in Malmesbury is a building that dates back to the late 17th century and has been converted into offices and flats in 1984. It features a roughcast timber frame and limestone rubble construction, topped with a hipped slate roof that is half-hipped at the rear. The building has an irregular T-shaped plan with both one- and two-storey additions. It stands two storeys high and has a five-window range.
On the northwest side, there is a former granary that is timber-framed and has a hipped roof. The front half of this structure features a projecting first floor supported by five square stone columns with simple moulded capitals. The entrance is located behind this section, and there are narrow rectangular openings with restored louvres and 20th-century plate glass. The rear section is made of rubble.
The southern range behind has three gables, with the outer gables having half-hipped roofs and the central gable being timber-framed. There are also single-storey ranges with slate roofs to the east. The interior of the building has been reported to be completely modernised.
