Description
No. 3 Oxford Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from around 1800. The building is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble with an ashlar plinth and a roughcast gable. It features a gable stack and a stone slate roof. The layout is double-depth, and the building stands three storeys high with a two-window range.
The openings have timber lintels, with central and right-hand doorways that have six-panel doors. The left-hand side showcases a well-preserved early 19th-century shop front, which includes panelled jambs, consoles, and a fascia, along with an inwardly-bowed window containing 40 panes. The first floor has 6/6-pane sash windows, while the second floor features 3/6-pane sashes, with the middle section being windowless. The second storey also has rough quoins and jambs.
Inside, the ground floor has been remodelled. Historically, this site was the location of the Red Lyon Inn.
