Description
The Boathouse is a mid-19th century structure located in Calne Without Bowood. It features a timber frame with plaster panels and a stone slate roof, complete with barge boards and a decorative ridge bellcote. The building has a crenellated stone ridge stack and includes a basement boat-store with a chamber above. It is a single-storey building with a false attic, characterized by square framing and some angle-bracing. The east end and north side are open as verandahs, which have turned-baluster rails and expose the east gable roof truss. The chamber has a door at the east end and leaded windows with an attic light above, though it is open to the roof internally. The Boathouse is marked on the 1847 estate map.
