2/14 Walled garden to north of Bowooi House

Garden Walls to large rectangular walled garden, c1760-5, rubble stone with brick piers outside, brick lined with ashlar plinth and coping within. Inner dividing walls separate four rectangular enclosures. Flush stone doorways, elliptical-arched main south entry with panelled double doors and panelled arch-head. Keystone and impost blocks. Shallow curved gateway on axis in main cross wall and elliptical-arched north doorway with iron gates. Another arched-head doorway on west wall. Smaller square-headed doorways with 9-panel doors on east wall, north-west angle of north wall and south-west angle of west wall. Similar doorways without doors at north end of spine wall and west end-of cross wall. On a terrace at north-west angle former apple-store, brick with flush ashlar quoins, plinth, moulded stone cornice and brick parapet. Rebuilt slate pyramid roof. Three south windows in flush stone surrounds with keystones. Walled garden is marked on Powell map of 1763.
