Description

The Holt War Memorial is a granite structure located within a railed enclosure on Ham Green, beside the B3107 road between Melksham and Bradford on Avon. It stands approximately 3 meters tall and features a broad obelisk that is square in shape, rising from a tall corniced plinth. The plinth has a two-stage base that rests on two steps.

On the front face of the plinth, bronze plaques display the names of the servicemen being commemorated. The main dedicatory inscription reads "OUR GLORIOUS DEAD/ 1914-1918/ (NAMES)." Above this, metal figures indicate the years "1939 – 1945," with the names from the Second World War listed on a bronze plaque below.

The area around the memorial is surfaced with stone chippings, and a low stone kerb supports the hooped railings that enclose the site, featuring a gate on the north-west side.
