Description
Foxley War Memorial is situated on a green area at the junction of the A1067 (Norwich Road) and Old Fakenham Road. It features an obelisk that is square in shape, standing on a tapering four-sided plinth, which in turn rests on a three-stepped square base. The memorial is surrounded by black-painted wrought-iron railings, which have gold paint at the top and on the finials.
The front face of the plinth has an incised inscription that reads: "SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF (3 NAMES) OF THIS PARISH WHO DIED SERVING THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918," with the phrase "LEST WE FORGET" and "R.I.P." on the top step below. A later inscription commemorating a Second World War casualty is located on a side face of the plinth and reads: "(NAME) RAFVR ACCIDENTALLY KILLED IN INDIA 11TH JUNE 1943."
