Description
Beck Hall is a former farmhouse associated with the Holkham Estate, dating from the late 18th century, although it has an earlier core. The building is constructed of limewashed brick and features a pantile roof. It stands two storeys tall with a seven-bay facade. The central entrance has a raised and fielded front door, which is adorned with a traceried semicircular fanlight and a flat hood supported by ornate wrought iron brackets in the Holkham Estate style. On either side of the entrance are full-height segmental bays that contain six-light mullion and transom windows with curved glazing. The other windows are of the four-light mullion and transom type. The building is finished with a dentil cornice and raised stucco ashlaring around the windows. At the rear, there is an outshut beneath a catslide roof. The initials "T.C." (for Thomas Coke of Holkham Hall) are formed by tie-ends. Beck Hall is surrounded by a moat and is believed to be located on the site of a medieval hospice.
