Description
The water gate to the north of Westbury House is an 18th-century structure made of ashlar stone. It features banded rustication, a moulded cornice, and a triangular pediment at the top. The gateway is rectangular and includes a cast-iron gate with a keystone above it. There is a small metal plaque on the doorway to the right that records the flood level from 1882. This gate is part of a group that includes the Three Horseshoes and Nos 1 to 4 on Frome Road, along with the Liberal Club, The Baptist Chapel, the Congregational Church and Hall, and several other numbered properties on St Margarets Street and St Margarets Hill.
