Description
Dutch Barton Cottage is a 17th-century building located on Church Street. It is constructed from coursed rubble and features stone tiled roofs. The cottage has two storeys and an attic, with two gables and three windows. All windows are leaded casements with moulded stone mullions. The attic side windows have two lights and dripmoulds, while the center window has three lights. On the first floor, there are two-light windows, and on the ground floor, there is a two-light window to the left of the central doorway and a three-light window to the right. The door opening is plain and square-headed, set under a wooden lintel. There is a continuous weathered string at the first floor level and another weathered string at the second floor level, which is raised over the center window to form a rectangular dripmould. Dutch Barton Cottage is part of a group of listed buildings on Church Street, which includes the Chantry, Little Chantry, Barton Orchard, and the Catholic Church of St Thomas More, along with several other properties on Barton Orchard and Newtown.
