Description

The property comprises an 18th-century pair of double wrought-iron gates, along with sections of low stone walls and railings, forming the entrance and forecourt to Abbey House. The gates incorporate a spear motif. Two ashlar piers, widely spaced and featuring plinths and entablatures supporting large stone urns, flank the entrance. These piers are attached to coursed stone walls with plain copings that run to the west, enclosing the forecourt. The gates, railings, and walls are part of a group of listed buildings including Chantry Little Chantry, Barton Orchard, the Catholic Church of St Thomas More on Market Street, and various properties and walls on Church Street and Newtown.
