Description

The war memorial, erected in 1922, is located in the grounds to the east of Westbury House on St Margaret's Street. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a square plinth with banded rustication and segmental-headed panels on all four sides. The memorial has a moulded cornice that also includes segmental sections on each side. Each side displays four blank fields adorned with metal wreaths. At the corners, there are four freestanding stone urns. The memorial is topped with a tall square obelisk that tapers at the top.

This memorial is part of a group that includes The Three Horseshoes, Nos 1 to 4 Frome Road, the Liberal Club, The Baptist Chapel, the Congregational Church and Hall, and several consecutive numbered buildings on St Margaret's Street and St Margaret's Hill.
