Description
The archway to the left of Nos 6 and 7 on St Margaret's Street is part of a building that dates from the 17th century. It is constructed of painted stone and features a stone-tiled roof with three gables. The building has two storeys plus attics in the gables, which contain 2-light stone mullioned casement windows. On the first floor, there are two 3-light casements, two 2-light casements, and one single-light casement, all with stone mullions and a continuous weathered string course above. The ground floor has two "Gothick" porches positioned closely together in the centre of the frontage, with a fixed light window between them. Flanking the porches are pairs of fixed-light windows with glazing bars. The pointed archway, which has a drip moulding above, is flanked by rusticated piers on the left side of the front. This building is part of a group that includes The Three Horseshoes and Nos 1 to 4 on Frome Road, along with the Liberal Club, The Baptist Chapel, the Congregational Church and Hall, and several other numbered properties on St Margaret's Street and St Margaret's Hill.
