Description

This is a 17th-century detached cottage located on the north side of Lode Hill, near Downton. The cottage has a timber frame and a half-hipped thatched roof, with an axial brick stack. It presents a gable end to the road and is two bays wide. The structure is single-storey with an attic. There is one window on the ground floor and one window to the first floor. A 20th-century porch sits on the gable end, and a 2-light casement window is visible to the right. The left return has a 20th-century glazed porch and a 2-light casement window. An eyebrow dormer with a 2-light casement window is also present on the left return. The right return has no windows. Inside, the cottage features chamfered beams with bar and ogee stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel, and exposed chamfered joists with step and runout stops.
