Description
3 and 5 Gastons Road is a terrace of two houses, originally built as three, dating from the early 19th century. Constructed from limestone rubble, the houses feature brick gable stacks and a stone slate roof. They have a single-depth plan and rise to two storeys with a three-window range. The street front previously had one window for each house, with a left-hand doorway leading to No. 3, although the left-hand doorway is now blocked, and a right-hand doorway leading to No. 5. The windows have segmental-arched heads and 20th-century doors, with a timber lintel above a right-hand two-over-two pane horned sash window, a left-hand plate-glass window, and a central two-over-six pane horned sash window. There is also a small metal leaded casement window above the doorway to No. 5, and two hipped eaves dormers on No. 3 that contain horizontal sliding sashes. The taller garden front features 19th and 20th-century casement windows and 20th-century roof lights. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have been altered.
