Description
Manor Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse built for the Herberts of Wilton. It is constructed of rendered brick with a Welsh slate roof and rendered brick stacks, forming an L-plan. The building is two stories high and features a three-window west front. To the right, there is a glazed porch with a four-panelled inner door, alongside a tripartite 12-pane sash window and a 12-pane sash window to the left. The first floor has three sash windows.
On the right side, the garden front includes two square bays with sash French windows set within a verandah, and three sash windows on the first floor. The rear of the house has a mix of sash and casement windows, while a two-storey wing on the right has two-light casements. The left side features two-light casements, a lean-to porch on the right, and a single-storey former cheese room with a 20th-century sash window to the left.
Inside, the farmhouse retains original joinery and stairs with turned balusters on a closed string, as well as flagstone floors in the entrance hall. This building is noted for being a well-preserved example of a farmhouse built by the Wilton Estate in the Chalke Valley.
