Description
The Bell Inn is a late 17th-century inn located on the west side of Church Street in Bower Chalke. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features chamfered rusticated quoins and a chamfered plinth. The building has a hipped thatched roof with brick stacks and is two storeys high with three windows.
The central entrance has a 20th-century porch that leads to a six-panelled inner door set within a moulded stone architrave, with beaded cross windows on either side. A plat band runs along the first floor, where there are beaded cross windows flanking a central casement with a transom, also in a beaded architrave.
The left side of the building has a 20th-century lean-to extension with a thatched roof, while the right side features another lean-to extension. At the rear, there is a 20th-century wing on the left and an outshut on the right made of rubble stone. The interior has not been inspected.
