Description

Deep Thatch is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, constructed with a timber frame and featuring a thatched half-hipped roof with two ridge stacks. The building is 1 and a half storeys tall, including an attic, and has high gabled dormers. On the south side, there are four dormers, alternating between pairs of casements and triple casements. The ground floor displays exposed framing on the left, supported by angle braces, and includes a door with a thatched hood, a pair of casements, and a triple casement with original leaded lights. There is a central painted stone and brick chimney wall, with a brick section to the right that has a 20th-century six-light casement, followed by square framing with one original casement.

The east end wall showcases an exposed full cruck truss and a pair of casements on the first floor. The north wall features a tall gabled dormer with an original triple casement to the left, alongside a large timber-framed gable to the right that includes an original small leaded oriel window and ogee braces. There is a casement pair situated in thatch between these features. On the ground floor, there is framing on the left with a door, followed by a rendered section containing a three-light unmoulded stone mullion window with original leaded lights, and then more framing on the right with straight and ogee-curved angle braces, two single casements, and two casement pairs.
