Description
No. 9 Maiden Lane is a house from the late 17th century, dated 1680. It is constructed of painted chalk rubble and features a thatched roof, which is half-hipped on the south side and hipped on the north side, with a ridge stack at the original north end. The building has one and a half storeys.
The west front includes an eyebrow over a pair of leaded casement windows, with another pair of casement windows below and a date plaque above. There is also a very small light to the right and a small window to the left, located under the eaves. A straight joint on the left side indicates that the north end of the house is an addition.
On the east front, there is an eyebrow over a pair of casement windows, with another pair of casement windows below and a door to the left. There is an additional door to the right in the added section. The datestone was reportedly discovered in a wall in 1938.
