Description

Norrie Cottage and Mayzells are two cottages dating from the 17th century. They are timber framed with wattle and daub infilling, although Mayzells has a rendered finish. Both cottages have thatched roofs. Norrie Cottage is single-storey and attic, while Mayzells is single-storey. The timber framing is two panels high, with the upper panel retaining some close studding. There are two bays to Norrie Cottage and three to Mayzells. Norrie Cottage has a main hall and inner room, featuring a half-glazed door and various 20th-century timber and metal windows. Mayzells follows a lobby entry plan, with a low half-glazed door and 19th-century casement windows, including a square bay window to the south, projecting from the inner room. Three dormers are visible on the roof. An external stack is located on the south gable. A rear outshut exists, displaying remains of timber framing. A 20th-century addition extends from the rear of Norrie Cottage.
