Description

Jay's Cottage is a 17th-century cottage positioned gable end to the street in West Overton. It is constructed from sarsen stone with some timber framing and brick noggings, all of which is colourwashed. The cottage features a thatched roof and is a single storey with an attic, comprising four bays. The first two bays retain some timber framing set on low sarsen boulder sills, with the framing being one panel high and including some cross pieces. The gable end is made of sarsen stone. There is a boarded stable door located on the north side in the second bay. The cottage has leaded timber windows and a stack in the third bay. The thatch extends over two dormers on the south side, three on the north side, and is quarter hipped at the street end. Internally, the cottage features rough chamfered spine beams.
