Description
Coombe View is a cottage that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It has a timber frame with brick noggings, and the front facing the road has been rebuilt in colourwashed stone. The roof is covered with 20th-century pantiles. The cottage is single-storey with low attics and consists of three bays. It features a central living hall and a large stone stack on the left. The entrance is located in a cross passage at the lower end, with a service room to the right. Behind the stack is an unheated parlour. There is a boarded door set in a tiled lean-to porch. The framing consists of two panels high. The cottage has three-light timber windows with timber lintels, as well as gabled flush dormers in the first and second bays, and one at the rear. The interior has not been seen but is reputed to include a chamfered mantel beam and an oven in the central living hall.
