Description

The Cox monument is a 19th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard against the south wall of the Church of St. George in Ogbourne St George. It is made of limestone and features a moulded table and base with a reeded fascia. The tomb has recessed corner balusters and oval panels on its sides that bear inscriptions for John Cox, who died in 1822, and Mary, who died in 1834. The tomb is mounted on a podium, although the railings that once surrounded it have been removed.
