Description
MILFORD HILL 1. 1594 (North Side) Milford Hill House SU 1429 NE 4/517 (Youth Hostel) SU 1430 SE 2/517 II 2. Circa 1830 villa set well back from road, with drive, in fine garden. 2 storeys stucco faced. Low pitch hipped slate roof, flat eaves with bed mould. 5 windows 1st floor, slightly recessed moulded framed sashes, glazing bars intact. Ground floor has 2 similarly framed tripartite sashes and 2 single sashes. Glazing bars intact. Entrance in 2nd bay from right: double doors, now partly glazed in architrave case, flanked by pilasters with entablature over and moulded pediment. Good verandah, on plinth, across whole of ground floor and returned to south front, leaded tent roof, wrought iron diamond panelled supports with fanned profile brackets to eaves. To north, set back, a 2 storey painted brick wing with one 2 light casement. The south front, with verandah returned, has 2 similar sashes on 1st floor and 2 French windows on ground floor in architrave frames. Very fine cedar in front of house.
