Description
Strong's Restaurant, located at No 35 on the northeast side of Market Place, dates from around 1900. This building is a single storey with an attic, featuring a rough cast wood frame and a gable end facing the street with a pantile roof. The gable has moulded bargeboards adorned with turned pendant finials at the lower ends. A modern six-light casement window is set in the gable. The ground floor shop front includes a central window with two lights, flanked by fluted pilasters on panelled pedestals that have roundels in the necking. There are side doors, one of which has been converted into a kiosk. Heavy reeded brackets sit above the pilasters, supporting a dentil cornice. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 29 to 42 and The Market Hall.
