Description

The Pie Shop, located at 24 Market Place, dates from around 1840 and is a three-storey building constructed from Bath stone. It features string courses at the first and second floor levels and a cornice that projects on widely spaced cut stone brackets. The roof is covered with slate. The upper floors have four windows without glazing bars, set within stone architrave surrounds that include keystones. The ground floor has a shop front with two windows and a central glazed door, which is topped by an eight-panel rectangular fanlight. To the right, there is a passage entry framed with painted stone Doric columns and an entablature, topped with a dentilled cornice. The building has group value with Nos 21 to 24 and The Black Swan Hotel.
