Description
The Weavers Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the early 18th century, with an extension added in the later 18th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble stone and features a pantiled roof with axial brick stacks and a stack to the left, and a half-hip to the right. The cottage has a baffle entry and is two storeys high with four windows. A planked door is located in a gabled porch to the right of centre, with a three-light casement to the right and three two-light casements to the left. There is a plat band to the right and above the porch at a higher level. The first floor has three two-light casements and one single-light casement. At the rear, there is a lean-to extension with two-light casements. Inside, the cottage features a chamfered beam with ogee stops and blocked open fireplaces. The roof is six bays wide with tie-beam trusses made from reused timbers. It is likely that the building served as two or three cottages during the 19th century. The Weavers Cottage occupies a prominent position at the east end of the street.
