Description
North Block is a building located within Marlborough College, constructed in 1893 by architect Thomas Garner. It is made of red brick and features a pitched tile roof. The building has two storeys and attics, with a four-gabled front. Each gable has a range of mullioned and transomed windows beneath it, separated by pilasters that include applied rainwater heads and downpipes, and are topped with consoles. At each end of the building, there are octagonal turrets with ashlar parapets that are panelled and display shields in each panel. The north elevation includes a basement story, six ranges of windows, and three smaller gables that alternate with crenellated parapets. North Block is part of a group that includes C House, B House, The Museum Block, The Arcade, The Bradleian Building, the Porter's Lodge, gates and railings, the Chapel, and A House.
