Description
The Plough Inn is an inn with origins dating from the late 17th century, primarily built in the 18th century, and extended in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings, featuring a stone slate roof and red brick end stacks. The building is two storeys high and was originally double-fronted, with a nearly matching bay added to the left side. It has flush quoins and paired 12-pane sash windows set in beaded architraves on the left, while other windows are in beaded flush surrounds. The central door, located between the two right bays, is framed by a raised moulded surround. At the rear, there is a shorter 19th-century parallel range with a coped north gable and a rear wall stack. The south end section is a steep gabled 1½ storey, possibly dating from the 17th century, and is connected by a single-storey 20th-century range to a stone-slated gabled outbuilding, which has a north side door in a flush moulded surround. Inside, there is a timber-lintel fireplace to the right of the door.
