Description
This is a late 17th or early 18th century farmhouse built of coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings, and an extremely steep hipped roof covered in stone slates. A stack is located on the north end, and a large stack is at the rear. The farmhouse is two storeys and an attic, and has a double-fronted appearance. The front has stone windows featuring recessed mullion and transom lights with hoodmoulds; two 2-light windows are above, and two 3-light windows are below. A central door is set within an ashlar surround. A gabled porch in ashlar, with stone slates and a finial, fronts the entrance with a Tudor arched opening. Straight joints in the stonework suggest that the window placement may have been altered at some point. The south side has a single-window range of similar 2-light windows, a dormer, and a 2-light basement window. A north-east rear wing has a coped east gable and an east end stack and features a single window range of similar windows facing south. A 1½-storey addition with an imitation stone slate roof extends beyond the original structure. Inside, the south room on the ground floor contains a large fireplace with a flat-headed, moulded stone surround.
