WESTBURY BRATTON ROAD 1. 5411 (South Side) Ludlow Mausoleum in ST 85 SE 1/121 Westbury Cemetery

  1. Built between 1886 and 1900, Lopes family [Barons Ludlow] mausoleum. Late C19. Hexagonal. Rough faced snecked rubble with parapet, angle finials, cupola and gabled lantern. Blind tracery to parapet, centre panel taller with light. Finials have poppy heads, gablets and shield-form corbels. Each face of main wall has a 4 centre arch window containing 2 trefoil headed lancets and centre lights. Chamfered plinth. Basement below further chamfered plinth, reached by dog leg stairs. The structure is enclosed by cast iron railings with fleur de lys headed stanchions on dwarf wall.
